Ladies of the world, there is nothing easier when it comes to looking polished and fabulous than a good dress. It’s the ultimate get-ready solution. Throw it over your head, add maybe an accessory or two and you’re good to go for the day. Interestingly enough, dresses can be a hardship for those of us who are curvier. You know what I mean, ladies with breasts and/or hips – you have to get things altered or can’t figure out why it will go over your head but not your chest.
Problem solved? Here are five essential dresses from my beloved DKNY that will not only make you look amazing but also work on a variety of body types! Ready for Monday morning wardrobe madness to be over? Read on!
Sleeveless Scarf Cozy Dress (above)– For those of you who love the convertible comfort and style of the shape-shifting Cozy, they’ve replicated the utility in a dress! You can tie it in a multitude of ways and flatter your body any way you like. Just add a belt or wrap and tie until your heart’s content, then add a blazer or leather jacket, footwear and you’re done!
Elbow Sleeve Tunic – This gorgeous tunic can be thrown over your head for effortlessly chic and comes with the added comfort of stretch georgette at the back yoke and the sleeves for extra comfort (and a touch of added spandex for a little extra give.) A great statement necklace is all that’s needed here. Tights and ankle boots by day, slinky heels, and a cocktail ring at night. LOVE.
Long Sleeve V-Neck Dress with Side Draping – A miracle worker of a dress. For those of you who are slightly less endowed, this will give you sexy, flattering appeal. For those of us with a bit more on top, this will accentuate beautifully. If you’ve got a little bit of a tummy, it keeps the eye moving to camouflage that issue, and if your upper arms aren’t what you want them to be just yet, this will streamline them in all the right ways.
Tee Shirt Dress with Tiger Embroidery – It’s really simple. Do you know how you love the ease of throwing on a t-shirt during the weekend? Translate that into a dress that feels like a comfortable shirt but skims the body like the best of dresses. The sleeve length is cut just right to flatter upper arms and the embroidered tigers are so rock and roll. I’m going to have to work this with a knit beret, opera pearls, a studded bracelet, and ankle boots.
Elbow Sleeve Easy Crewneck Dress – I LOVE this dress. Let’s discuss how the metallic cheetah print is just the right trick to make this a standout without being TOO showy (talk about day to night!) Additionally, the 70’s-inspired sheer upper bodice with a boatneck highlights your alluring neckline and the sheer illusion is alluring without being – dare I say it? – too trashy. The elastic waist is forgiving and the design is perfection, period.
So, have I convinced you? Head to the DKNY site or your nearest retailer and give these dresses a shot. Monday morning won’t look so challenging next week!
